"The design is fantastic and the location is superb. The only drawbacks are that you have to wait for the hot water tank to refill after using the bathtub, otherwise there won't be enough hot water for a shower, and the soundproofing isn't great. However, overall it offers excellent value for money."

"I had high hopes for my stay at the Lakeshore, but unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to them. It feels like they're too focused on maximizing profits and less on guest experience. For example, the laundry room charges a fee, and another laundry room is only for backpackers, which I find illogical. The afternoon tea for hotel guests only offered two or three types of biscuits; they really shouldn't be calling that afternoon tea. On a positive note, the intern at the entrance was very enthusiastic and deserves praise."

"It is located right next to Hualien Train Station, but it is the West Exit instead of the Main Exit. You need to walk pass a pedestrian bridge located inside Hualien Station to get to this exit. The hotel itself is very clean and cozy. It has quite a few convenient stores nearby, and it also provides free snacks and fruit for customers. One thing to take note is, the hotel door is not a magnetic lock, instead it is a conventional key lock. So don’t expect the door to lock by itself when you go out. But this might sometimes be a plus point because you don’t need to be worried about the situation where you being locked outside and forgot to bring your room key."

"The environment is clean and tidy, and the indoor space is large. The lighting is also very bright, making it a great place to relax."

"Had a very underwhelming experience for the money that we paid for this hotel. Decor was very outdated (i.e. 2000s), which was understandable as this is an old hotel. Service staff was quite rude when we asked for directions and recommendations for food and things to see around the area. Do note that the carpark is very small and there are no parking lots surrounding the area. When we checked in, the carpark attendant told us that their carpark lot was at full capacity."

"It's close to Hualien Station, about a 5-minute walk away, but the entrance is not very wide, so be careful. Lockers with keys are available. The staff were friendly and all facilities were clean. There is a common space next to the reception, but it is not face-to-face, so it may be a little difficult to talk to other guests. My bed was a double and spacious, but there was only one power outlet, so I couldn't use the bed lamp and adapter at the same time."

"The accommodation was fantastic, right by Beibin Park. I stumbled upon photos of this place and decided to visit Hualien. Hualien is truly beautiful, the ocean and blue sky are so soothing. I just wanted to stare out at the sea from the balcony every day. I hope to return to Yanhua next time I visit."

"Well strategic location Hotel. The room is bright. But the room housekeeping is very poor. Eventhough i requested to clean the room, the auntie did not clean it. She just tidy up the bed very fast and change new towel. Never vacuum/mop the floor, dust and hair on the floor very obviously. So don’t expect she vacuum the bed if u request to change the bed sheet. Got flea/ bed bugs. I thought my eczema flare up. But once both my parents also experienced the same. And I noticed the bed sheet got a few spots a little dot. Then yeah it’s bed bugs. I hope the housekeeping auntie can make it better."

"One of the better (if not the best) hotel chains I’ve stayed at in Taiwan. I’ve visited Taiwan about 10 times and stayed here for 2 nights, and overall I was very satisfied with the experience. They provide free bicycles (3 hours limit), which is useful for getting around Hualien. Breakfast has a good spread, and there are complimentary ice cream and drinks available in the lobby around the clock. We didn’t realise they also offer late-night supper from 7pm to 9pm, which was honestly as good as a proper dinner buffet, with a good mix of Western and Chinese dishes and even live entertainment. The room was spacious and well maintained, with no hygiene concerns. Shower water pressure was good. Noise levels were generally fine, though louder sounds like furniture movement could occasionally be heard. The hotel is conveniently located near a convenience store, restaurants, KTV, and a cinema, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can also cycle to the night market within 15 minutes, making it super easy to get around the main area without getting a taxi. Overall, a very good stay and very good value for money. While a gym would be nice, I would definitely consider staying at other branches on future trips."

"I cannot recommend this place. I wanted to treat myself to something nice, but woke up in the middle of the night with a headache, as my room was running out of air. None of the windows open! I tried all settings of the AC, which required me to call my wife in China, as it was all in Chinese, but still there was never enough fresh air. I then cancelled my booking. Also, the floor-to-ceiling windows only work if you are on the 5th floor. I was on the second floor, basically street level and had eye contact with construction workers on the street. In that context, smaller windows would have been better, as you are basically seen by everyone passing by on the street (see photos). "
