"This hostel is super easy to get to and very centrally located. The beds were really comfortable too. Even though our room had its own bathroom, there was also another shared bathroom available for everyone down the hall. The locker was big enough for my entire backpack. There was also a water dispenser on every floor. The interior design was lovely, and I particularly liked the paintings on each floor. There was also a kitchen available if you wanted to prepare something, but breakfast was provided anyway."

"One of the better (if not the best) hotel chains I’ve stayed at in Taiwan. I’ve visited Taiwan about 10 times and stayed here for 2 nights, and overall I was very satisfied with the experience. They provide free bicycles (3 hours limit), which is useful for getting around Hualien. Breakfast has a good spread, and there are complimentary ice cream and drinks available in the lobby around the clock. We didn’t realise they also offer late-night supper from 7pm to 9pm, which was honestly as good as a proper dinner buffet, with a good mix of Western and Chinese dishes and even live entertainment. The room was spacious and well maintained, with no hygiene concerns. Shower water pressure was good. Noise levels were generally fine, though louder sounds like furniture movement could occasionally be heard. The hotel is conveniently located near a convenience store, restaurants, KTV, and a cinema, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from the station. You can also cycle to the night market within 15 minutes, making it super easy to get around the main area without getting a taxi. Overall, a very good stay and very good value for money. While a gym would be nice, I would definitely consider staying at other branches on future trips."

"The location is truly excellent, but the hotel is clearly showing its age. You can tell they make an effort with the cleaning, though. Also, for some reason, the air conditioning couldn't be adjusted – I woke up cold in the middle of the night and had to turn it off completely. Staying on the top floor (8th floor), you could distinctly hear the booster pump running, but thankfully it wasn't too loud."

"The hotel offers pick-up and drop-off services to the train station. Laundry and drying cost 110 NTD, and the front desk provides change. The hotel staff are very patient. It's about 3-4 kilometers from the city center, and a taxi ride costs 170 NTD. The location is quite convenient. Within a 15-minute walk, there are convenience stores and seafood restaurants. There's also a convenience store inside the hotel. The hotel's pool is beautiful, though the gym is a bit basic. Next to the gym, there are many recreational facilities. The view from the hotel room is fantastic."

"This was a wonderful guesthouse. The owner was very welcoming and talkative, and proactively contacted me to let me know my approximate arrival time. I was very satisfied with everything in the room, and what I loved most was that it was just a short walk to the beach. The only downside was that we couldn't see the sunrise due to thick clouds. The breakfast was delicious, but unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures."

It's a bit like a crossroads, where encounters are meant to be missed. Like a complex organism, It can be summarized but cannot be defined. Together, it is a node suitable for people to meet each other. Together, it is a chemical reaction where 1 + 1 > 2.

"The accommodation environment is clean and comfortable, and the surrounding area has convenient amenities. The shared living room space is large and very clean. The hot and cold water regulation is smooth, and the air conditioning doesn't fluctuate in temperature. The bed sheets and covers are clean and tidy. The price is excellent, making it incredibly worthwhile to stay here again. I definitely won't miss this place on my next visit to Hualien!"

The breakfast in the restaurant was abundant, delicious, and offered a wide and refined selection. I didn't realize when booking that breakfast wasn't included, so I added it for 500 per person, which I felt was well worth it. The room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. They also provided complimentary afternoon tea snacks. The surrounding environment is natural and spacious, and you can walk to the beach in just a short while. Overall, I was very satisfied."

My stay here last year was great, so I decided to come back for my round-the-island trip this year. When checking in, I asked the front desk about motorcycle parking. The staff member, whose name tag said 'Intern,' told me I could park anywhere on the white lines along the road next to the hotel. I then asked if the parking lot across the street, where I parked last year, was still an option. A man and a woman next to the counter said that was for cars and heavy motorcycles (even though I wasn't riding a heavy motorcycle last year either). I said 'okay' and went to look for white lines on the road next to the hotel (as shown in the photo). Turns out, the road had just been repaved and there were no markings at all. If you expect us to find our own parking, you should at least clarify that the road markings are gone. I'm not a local, so how would I know what markings used to be there? And the full-time staff member next to the intern also just replied, as if it wasn't their problem, 'You can park on the white lines nearby.' Where exactly are these 'nearby white lines'? Anyway, the breakfast was good. If you're on a budget, I highly recommend this place.

Best best best hotel we have ever stayed in. Services provided was excellent. All staff were very genuinely. It really felt like a 5 star hotel. We stayed in another 5 star hotel in Jiaoxi which is No. 1 in Jiaoxi but the service cannot be matched. Well done to all the staff. Room was always clean. Thank you to the staff who cleaned our spectacle. It was a nice gesture. Different snacks were topped up everyday. The face mask provided was so good! Surrounding of the hotel was very nice. We had the gorge view and OMG! We don't mind waking up to this view everyday. We hope they will contruct a stairs for guest to go down to the gorge. It is a waste to just see it from the top. Breakfast was good. We could see that they have made an effort to label which is vegetarian and which is not. It's very thoughtful of the restaurant. However, we had a seafood porridge and thought it was purely seafood but notice there was chicken in it but not written. Maybe they can improve in this. Kids are very well entertained in this hotel. They have a huge play room for them. Indoor pool with heated pool is enough to keep the kids occupied for 2hours at least. They also have daily activities and some are free. Thank you Silk Place for the wonderful stay. We will be back.

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, making our stay truly enjoyable. The room was spacious and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of our visit. Azure Hotel is strategically located, with Dong Da Men Night Market just a short walk away, which was very convenient. On top of that, the hotel provides complimentary parking for guests, which was a very convenient bonus for us.

Had a very underwhelming experience for the money that we paid for this hotel. Decor was very outdated (i.e. 2000s), which was understandable as this is an old hotel. Service staff was quite rude when we asked for directions and recommendations for food and things to see around the area. Do note that the carpark is very small and there are no parking lots surrounding the area. When we checked in, the carpark attendant told us that their carpark lot was at full capacity.

Positives: - like all lakeshore hotels in Taiwan, fantastic breakfast spread, especially incorporating local hualien food like gongzheng baos etc… - sauna with a sea view.. what else to ask for - children playroom - comfy rooms and excellent service all round by all staff - bath tub near the window where you can soak and see the sea - coin operated laundry room with washers and dryers (affordable plus only two each.. so may have to wait) - small snacks and beverages provided for guests daily on the ground floor Negatives: - only really gripes is the location.. about 2 km away from the city centre so not much to do in the neighbourhood - sea view room is actually the view of the port and a distance away… technically hotel is not wrong.. but should lower your own expectations

Overall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront. Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay. Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size. The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.

This hostel is absolutely fantastic! It's about a five to six-minute walk from Hualien Station. The beds and towels are very clean, and the bathroom is spacious with a large mirror. You can even enjoy a view of the mountain city from the room. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic, and they offer free bicycle rentals. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!

During my recent trip to Hualien, I had the unique opportunity to stay at the Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As soon as I arrived, the prison theme instantly caught my attention. The rooms were designed to resemble prison cells, which added an intriguing and immersive element to my stay. One thing that stood out to me was the absence of a traditional reception desk. Instead, to gain entry, all guests need to do is call the contact number provided, which adds a touch of mystery to the experience. The lady working there was exceptionally helpful and patient, even taking the time to explain how to use the facilities in Chinese. Her assistance made my stay all the more enjoyable. As a solo traveler, I couldn't help but appreciate the eerie vibes that the place exudes, especially since I'm a fan of horror. Every night, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that perfectly catered to my taste. It's not often that you come across a hostel that provides such a unique and thrilling ambiance. Cleanliness is always a priority for me, and I was pleased to find that Peace Prison Cafe Inn Hostel did not disappoint in this aspect. The rooms were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay. The convenient location of the hostel was also a major plus, making it easy for me to explore and enjoy everything that Hualien has to offer. It's clean, it's close to the train station, where you can rent a scooter to explore Taroko National Park, also have a gas station next door to refill your scooter and you are next to the main road to go to the National Park. There is enough stuff to cook yourself something. Communication with the landlord on self check-in went well and I could check-in earlier because my bed was free, actually I was the only guest in the dorm on my first of two nights. It was calm and the entire hostel & bathroom was very clean. I liked, that you can buy razors, one-way towels, toothbrush kit for a small fee, even if I didn't need it. The only downside, and that's why I gave it -3 stars in amenity was, that the mattress was so hard, it felt like sleeping on the floor. The room had a bit of strange moisture smell, but I could get used to it quickly. If there would be a thicker, less hard mattress, that place would get total points. On the back door / balcony you have a nice view of the mountains. (The picture attached is taken from the road, but if you crop the lower half, it's what you see)
