"We booked the Honeymoon Suite, room 205. The icemaker has not been cleaned. The water inside was yellow. Needless to say: we did not try make any ice. Our room was not cleaned thorougly. The shelf on top of the kitchenette had a thick layer of dust on it. The shower was black with mould. The laminated wood panel underneath the basin had water damage. The panel was swollen from dampness and pieces of the laminate had broken off. No face cloths were available. Usually all 5 star establishments has face cloths as a standard item. The breakfast, was just ok. Nothing special as one would expect of a 5 star hotel. The passage carpet was dirty. The rugs in the rest of the hotel not clean. The furniture needs replacement. Most pueces are worn. We travel abroad twice per annum. This hotel should be rated 3 star. The rates charged at Turbine is ridiculous for what you get. This hotel needs a full upgrade. The staff is super friendly though."

"Had a wonderful 3 night stay at Kanonkop. Mark & Adele were perfect hosts, attentive, friendly and fun. They also organised a Braai one evening during our stay, which was excellent. The room was fabulous with stunning views over the lagoon and down to the ocean. We loved the "help yourself bar", although the staff were always around to help :) They had thoughtfully made a reservation at a local restaurant for us on our first night so we were covered. We will definitely return!"

"The Moorings was an absolutely terrible hotel. We had to walk to the reception to fill our water bottles. There were an overwhelming number of mosquitoes, and there were 5 spider webs right on top of the beds. We repeatedly requested housekeeping to clean up the spider webs, but they would never listen. The hotel sits within a 5-minute walk of the Waterfront, making it ridiculously convenient for exploring local restaurants, shops, and boat cruises. What struck me most was the attention to detail in the rooms - from the spacious layouts to the luxury showers that actually deliver on the promise of indulgence. LOCATION: The location is genuinely one of The Rex's strongest assets. Being just 300 meters from Knysna Waterfront means I could walk to restaurants, bars, and shops in under five minutes. The proximity to attractions like Featherbed Nature Reserve, Knysna Heads, and the lagoon makes it an ideal base for exploring the area. I appreciated being close enough to everything without being in the thick of tourist chaos - it's that perfect sweet spot where convenience meets tranquility. DINE + DRINK: They have a sweet-looking restaurant called SALT WATER BISTRO - which I didnt have a chance to try. So cannot comment ROOM: We stayed in Room 308, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: ; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality toiletries FACILITIES: No Gym on site. And the tiny outdoor pool was unusable thanks to the cool weather SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Small Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages"
