"There aren't many people in Atami during winter, which is nice. The seaside hotel is pretty good. They have a shuttle bus service to and from the station, and it's not far from the beach or convenience stores. The hot spring bathhouse is huge, and the hotel even gave us complimentary drink vouchers. Recommended!"

I feel that the location might not be ideal and the tram stops working after 7 so need to keep that in mind. But you can see the entire valley at night."

I simply *must* speak up for this inn: Originally the villa of the Iwasaki family (of Mitsubishi Zaibatsu fame), built in 1929, it transformed into a hot spring ryokan in 1949 and boasts nearly a century of rich history. The Showa Emperor and Empress once resided here, and historical figures like Sun Yat-sen and Liang Qichao also had brief stays. Stepping inside, my mind constantly conjured images of these textbook personalities, creating an incredibly surreal and awe-inspiring sensation. The scenery here is so breathtaking that photos taken with a phone could easily pass for professional online images. The weather was pleasant, with the constant hum of cicadas and a gentle breeze. As I explored the entire forested area, I noticed meticulous details everywhere, clearly demonstrating the thoughtful maintenance and preservation. Here's a message I personally translated and sent to the hotel: To the esteemed staff of the ryokan, We are profoundly grateful for your continuous and exceptional hospitality. Even for humble guests like us, you embraced us with such warmth and genuine smiles. Thank you sincerely. "The facilities were all great, but it was a bit of a shame that there were time restrictions. We arrived late in the evening and most of the drinks were gone, plus there was no comb provided in the room."

"First, I was very happy to get such big Japanese-style room. It has 2 big rooms and much space. You can easily lie there if there are 8 of you. Hotel is kind of tired, but staff keeps it in a good condition. Dinner is a set menu, not kanseki. But it still was good. I was full and happy. Breakfast is a buffet. A bit about how to reach the hotel. There are shuttels from Hakone-Yumoto. It should cost 200 yen. They bring you to Okada hotel. But it's not your hotel. Stuff will give you a map and you need like 3 min to reach the right hotel. There are several onsens. Open and closed. All were good, warm. With good view on mountains. You can take yukata at the reception. And you need to make bed by yourself, but it's only cover mattress but sheet. Nothing difficult."

"The room, the large public bath, the food, everything was fine, but during dinner I discovered a cockroach on the floor near the buffet. I think it was because the leftover food was left on the table instead of being cleared away, but I think they should do something about it."

"The hotel's facilities are really great. I chose a huge tatami room all to myself, though people from my country might not be used to sleeping on tatami. The only downside to the room was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy, but thankfully there's a door, and closing it helped a lot. Both the room and the restaurant face the sea and the harbor, so the view is absolutely unparalleled. As for the location, it's a bit on the outskirts with no commercial areas nearby; it takes about a 10-minute walk to reach dining and shopping spots. All hotel guests receive a complimentary hot spring ticket. Their hot spring also faces the sea. The infinity hot spring pool is definitely the biggest highlight! The entire hot spring area is very modern and beautifully designed. However, it's spread across 7 floors, and you have to undress upstairs and downstairs, with shoe storage and showering not in the same area, which makes the process a bit confusing and overwhelming."

"This newly renovated hotel in 2024 has a great mountain view. It costs about 1,400 yen to take a taxi from Atami Station. There are many highlights of the stay experience: the panoramic view is amazing, free drinks are available, and the tea rice for breakfast is my favorite. However, when dining, I found that the olive oil had expired for four months, which is really inconsistent with the hotel's positioning. Although it was replaced in time after feedback, such omissions still make people doubt the quality control of high-end services."
