"I've always yearned to visit Eastern Hokkaido, so I made a special trip from Sapporo by JR train to Obihiro. The two-and-a-half-hour journey took me through the mountains of central Hokkaido, finally arriving in this central city of the Tokachi Plain on the afternoon of March 13, 2026. Coincidentally, my room number was 313. When I opened the curtains, the JR train station was to my immediate right, and the Obihiro bus terminal to my immediate left. While Obihiro Station is almost encircled by hotels, the Richmond's location is absolutely superb. After getting off the train, I turned right (West Exit) from the ticket gate, walked about 30-40 meters to the end, faced a small shopping mall, and then turned right again (north side). I spotted the hotel immediately, even before exiting the building – no navigation needed! The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable. After checking in, I quickly went downstairs and explored the area around the hotel. The city was impeccably clean and remarkably quiet. I've never fallen in love with a city at first sight like this before. It's no longer just about whether the hotel is good; now I'm seriously considering moving to Obihiro. The next morning, I started my bus tour early and didn't return until after 9 PM. On the morning of the 15th, I had breakfast at the hotel's buffet restaurant. The restaurant is called 'Ye Guang Bei' (Night-glowing Cup), but it's perfectly fine for breakfast. You can get 'tipsy' even without alcohol here! I love this hotel, and I love this city."

"The welcome drink included alcohol and soft drinks that you could customize, which was nice. There was a wide variety of amenities. If you check in late, you can't choose your pillow, but you can choose the height and hardness. The location is good, but there is no convenience store nearby. The automatic check-out is easy and convenient. The elevator is narrow, so it can be cramped if there are many people in the elevator."

"I didn't realize there would be food, so I just got what was on the menu. I didn't even ask, so I assumed the hotel wouldn't provide anything. I received the usual service. The man at the front desk was very friendly and had a nice smile. I was grateful that the toilet and bathroom in the room were clean."

"This hotel's central location in Obihiro was perfect for enjoying the local nightlife. We traveled by rental car, and finding parking was hassle-free with multiple options available (600 yen/day). We opted for breakfast, which was outstanding in both taste and quality. While there's a sauna, it can get quite busy and a bit cramped. If you prefer a more private experience, showering in your room is perfectly adequate. The water quality is excellent. The staff were proficient in English, so communication was smooth and effortless."

"First of all, the hotel is quite small and includes the lobby, the restaurant and the room itself. But more importantly, many things do not make sense. There is only one elevator in use (there is another one in the corner which is not in use), as a result, causing chaos in the rush hour. The public bath is so-called a natural hot springs but that is quite common in that area, it is open to the public so many local people use it. Upon the small restaurant, they also put a lot of unnecessary stuff to make the situation worse, e.g. they put an old engine (those you see in the museum), and the dinner table is just right next to it. In terms of service, the front desk people have very limited English ability but I notice that one of the female staff in the restaurant can speak fluently (she remind me to take out a cup of coffee in English). Honestly, it doesn't make sense....."

"Good public bath with onsen, cold dip, Sunna room and a semi outdoor area to chill out. The room is big enough, I like the coffee table and extra chair that I use to pack my luggage. Japanese / western style breakfast plus self service options, you can make a pork don, too!"

"Great location, with a lot of great restaurants in walking distance. Room is so small that it was hard to open two luggage’s at the same time. But the cleanliness is impeccable. However, the public bath was kind of disgusting, full of black mold. I decided not to dip myself in the mold soup."

"The JR trains were stopped, leaving me stranded. After changing my ticket, I immediately started preparing for my stay. Since it was close to the station, I decided to stay overnight. I had lunch at my favorite coffee shop and regained my composure. I was heartbroken, but the next day, when I opened the curtains, the sun was rising. It was a moment of pure relief. I then rented a car and returned home safely."

"The hotel resembles an old apartment building. The rooms are enormous, the largest I've ever stayed in a large Japanese hotel. The facilities are somewhat dated, but that doesn't affect usability. The location is a bit out of the way, with limited dining options nearby. Unlike newer hotels, there are no direct USB ports. Otherwise, everything is fine and quite good, including a delicious breakfast."

"It was just from the station, but it was quiet because it was just one street. The second floor is a shared space from the afternoon and you can have coffee. The staff 々 was kind and short but comfortable."
