"The hotel is conveniently located in Nijo, close to a Life supermarket, Muji, and Nijo Castle. There are also many coffee shops and restaurants nearby, making dining very convenient. It's only two stops from Kyoto Station, which is very quick, and the hotel is right outside Nijo Station. The room size is also quite generous. My only minor complaint is that there were some dirty marks on the wall, probably from guests' luggage. I considered asking to switch rooms but decided against it to avoid the hassle. Also, I noticed that booking hotels in Kyoto closer to the check-in date, especially after the free cancellation period, can sometimes be cheaper than booking in advance."

"This hotel is in a great location nearly next to Nishiki Market. Around the hotel is very quiet. The room we received was facing the graveyard, I’m not sure why there are so many negatives reviews about it but we had no problems with it. No ****** visited us😋😅 The bed was very spacious but a little hard. The pillows were also quite hard so we woke up sore a few times… overall the room was very clean and amenities were available downstairs if needed like toothbrush or qtips. The staff were very kind and brought our luggage to our room before we arrived through luggage forwarding. After check out, they also allowed us to store it in the back for a few hours."

"Great room location! If you need anything for your room, you can pick it up on the first floor. There's a huge 7-Eleven downstairs which is super convenient, and the subway and bus stations are both nearby. Overall, I had a very satisfying experience! The price was also excellent. 🤩"

"The hotel was within walking distance from Kyoto Station. The room was compact but clean, and the facilities were sufficient. Since I was staying with a friend, having a separate bath and toilet was a huge plus. There were plenty of outlets, and the air conditioning could be adjusted freely. I'm not sure if there were other guests, but it was quiet at night, and the bed was comfortable, so I slept soundly. We could also easily reach all the tourist spots we wanted to visit from a nearby bus stop, so the location was great for transportation. If I have the chance, I'd like to stay here again and even for a few more days."

"Great hotel to stay in with the Onsen at Level 1! We enjoyed our 4 day 3 nights stay and was given the highest floor and a corner room! Thank you to the staff team for the pleasant hospitality service. One thing is that the room blinds were a bit dusty. Other than that, all is perfect! We had a car hence parking was easy at the hotel however charges were pretty expensive if we just wanted to come back to hotel for 1 hr or so and not sure if it’s within the hotel’s control but we had budgeted for it. The hotel has a daily parking coupons as well which helped if we stayed overnight and longer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay! Thank you!"

"I forgot to take pictures of the room, but it looks exactly like the product photos. We had a very comfortable May Day holiday. The hotel's location is great, not far from Kyoto Station, but without the noise of being right next to the station. The decor and facilities are very new. It offers excellent value for money. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day. There's a Chinese-speaking gentleman at the front desk who provided excellent service and explained everything thoroughly. The breakfast was rich and varied, but there was a queue, so it's best to allow extra time for waiting."

"This hotel is right in the heart of Gion, just a one-minute walk from the start of the path to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. It's super convenient for buses, and Gion station is only an 8-minute walk away. The rooms are clean and tidy. The only downside is that the windows face directly onto the street, so you might hear some noise around 9-10 PM that could disturb your sleep. Otherwise, it's a perfect hotel."

"This was the best hotel of the three we stayed in on our trip to Japan. The location was absolutely central to everything, and amenities were all close at hand. Close to Kyoto station meant that even when you were out all you had to do was finding a train or bus coming back to the station. From the first view of the hotel inside we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The room blew us away when we opened the door, it was well laid out. The service and food were exceptional, absolutely loved the ”Meat Theatre” this was an all you can eat and well worth the money. The staff were truly helpful at all times. Exceptionally good value loved it and would recommend it to everyone we know that are going to Kyoto."

GGuest UserService: The room was incredibly spacious and clean, and the staff even helped lay out the futons. The service was very warm and welcoming. Shopping: The first floor has a great selection of souvenirs and pastries. They're affordable and a bit more refined than what you'd find at Don Quijote. Plus, hotel guests get a 10% discount. Unique Experiences: You can experience a traditional tea ceremony in the lobby on the first floor, and there's a really comfortable communal bath on the basement level. Location: It's super close to Kyoto Station, just a few minutes' walk. There's also a large temple nearby. Food: There are tons of dining and shopping options around. Right across the street, there's a Kobe beef restaurant, and just a short walk away, you'll find a popular fried beef cutlet place with a long line. There are also izakayas and more. Shopping (cont.): It's also very convenient for shopping. Just a few steps away is a large multi-purpose commercial center with everything from clothing brands like Uniqlo and GU, shoe stores like ABC Mart, to stationery, cameras, electronics, and headphones.

GGuest UserOverall, my stay at the Kyoto Arala Hotel was pretty good. The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto Station, making it super easy to get to various attractions and transfer to other transportation. There are also plenty of convenience stores and drugstores nearby, which is very handy. The room layout was well-designed, and the bedding was comfortable, so I slept really well during my stay. The hotel's on-site hot spring was a major highlight; soaking in it after a day of sightseeing completely washed away my fatigue. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both check-in and check-out were quick. All the facilities were excellent. I particularly appreciated the front desk service that allowed me to courier my luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo, saving me from having to lug my suitcase on the Shinkansen, which was incredibly convenient. The only downside was the extremely slow and unstable Wi-Fi in the room. Streaming videos, browsing the web, and even replying to WeChat messages often resulted in buffering or no connection at all. For all four days, I had to use my own mobile data in the room, and I really hope they can improve this aspect. Putting the Wi-Fi issue aside, this hotel offers great overall value for money.

Laundry facilities provided with self pay washing machine and dryer. Interesting part is that we can see in live mode which washing machine or dryer is in use. TTravelsoloMight be more suitable for first timers or travellers who are into Kiyomizu temple or Gion(both location walkable from hotel) I'm a frequent traveller to Japan/Kyoto thus location does not work well for me but not a deal breaker. Hotel is pretty big as I feel the distance walking from elevator to room, decent size rooms with windows that can be opened for maybe 3 inches(?) Enough pillows and quiet room for good rest and also nice public areas with lotsa greens. Rooms need to be more throughly cleaned though as I found coffee/tea stains on the table top(not acceptable for hotels of this grade) The in room water dispenser is a great idea though. There's a bakery within the hotel itself thats open from breakfast if you are into convenience, delish but there are simply too many good bakeries(or other breakfast places) in Kyoto.

AAnonymous UserI really liked my stay in Tokyu Stay! The hotel is located quite near the train station, doesn’t give any anxiety when getting to the train station with our luggage’s. It is also located near a lot of food places. I like that there was a washing machine provided in the room, it’s so convenient! There are free sake and coffee at the hotel lobby. There are two hotels under Tokyu Stay on the same street so don’t panic if you went to the wrong one, because this outlet is just down the street.

The overall ambiance is elegant and thoughtful, but I especially want to rave about the self-service drink machine in the lobby – it was such a delightful little bonus during my travels. The machine itself is sleek and blends perfectly with the hotel's style. The drink selection is incredibly diverse, from ice-cold sodas to warm beverages, and the cooling works really well. Coming back after a long day of sightseeing and grabbing a refreshing drink was incredibly therapeutic. Operating it was super easy with a quick QR code scan, fast recognition, and instant dispensing after payment. Being able to grab a drink 24/7 was a lifesaver; no more having to trek far just for a late-night beverage.

SStellaLouWe had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was well-furnished, modern and has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We like that there is a communal bath in the hotel. The room feels cozy and has a spacious bathroom which was a pleasant addition. We will be recommending this hotel and will make a return in future! (P.S. There’s a curry rice shop 1-2mins walk away from the hotel towards Kyoto station, that is absolutely delicious and affordable and is on our mind till this day!)

GGuest UserEvery time I visit Kyoto these past few years, I always stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, right in Sanjo Kawaramachi, very close to the Kamo River. There are tons of shopping and dining options nearby. The hygiene is good, and toiletries can be conveniently picked up from the lobby. The room attendants are warm, attentive, and polite. However, the service standard of the lobby staff has declined; they just get the job done. Also, because the hotel is in a bustling area, there's always a huge crowd coming and going, which can be a bit annoying after a while. What I really need to complain about is the duvet. The fabric isn't 100% cotton, and there's a thin sheet liner inside, so it always ends up a mess by morning. This time, I was smarter and brought my own duvet cover, but it still didn't solve the problem. When I took it apart, I realized the duvet cover and duvet weren't secured with ties. For the rest of my stay, I had to make the bed myself to sleep more comfortably.

YYury GrinI stayed for 4 nights from January 4 to January 8, 2026. From the hotel, you can walk to Nijo Castle in about 10 minutes. There are many small convenience stores nearby (7-Eleven and the like), as well as two large supermarkets — Life is open until midnight, which is a huge plus. You can buy nice gifts for friends and family late in the evening without wasting daytime hours. The transportation access is great too: within a few minutes' walk there's a subway station and a JR line (convenient for coming from the railway station), and right next to the hotel there's a bus stop. This is important because Kyoto's sights are scattered all over the city, and you often need to use public transport or taxis. Speaking of taxis. Twice I asked the reception to call me a taxi, and both times the staff helped me — a huge thank you to them! It was especially important on the first day: thanks to a taxi, I made it to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in time and explored it without rushing. Check-in was very quick, and the staff explained where everything was. The room was quite spacious — or maybe it just felt that way. I comfortably unpacked my suitcase and took out everything I needed without feeling cramped. The room had all the essentials, and there were kettles near the elevator that you could take to your room if needed. I did, and had some tea before bed (on the first floor, you can grab a free tea bag if you don't have your own). The air conditioner worked for both cooling and heating — which was very useful on some evenings. Honestly, I only used the hotel to sleep, and it was perfectly fine. Every morning, breakfast is served on the first floor. To be honest, I expected something simple since the room rate was quite affordable. That's why the breakfast was such a pleasant surprise! My eyes wandered every morning at the variety of delicious food! A huge selection. Every day I had rice with various toppings, amazing salmon, cod, and various vegetables (the okra here was especially good). There's a small smoking room on the first floor with good ventilation. My overall impression of the hotel is extremely positive. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.

It is incredibly convenient—just a 5-minute drive to Kyoto Station, and only one train stop away, making it very easy to get around. The hot spring facilities were especially comfortable and relaxing, and it was such a wonderful experience for our whole family. We also really enjoyed the breakfast provided by the hotel, which was delicious and a great way to start each day. The staff were warm, friendly, and always helpful. Overall, we had a truly enjoyable stay and a very memorable experience.
