"The hotel is about 40-50 minutes from the city center and roughly an hour from the airport. If you're not in a rush, public transport is an option. Arriving at Penang Airport at 7:30 AM, it was perfect to grab breakfast before checking into the hotel. We added an extra bed, which was quite low, like a camp bed. We asked if we could get another mattress, and they said they'd check but never got back to us, so we just let it go. For our 5:30 AM return flight, we pre-ordered a takeaway breakfast the day before. The balcony was very spacious with expansive views. The private beach was just okay, a bit rocky underfoot. The entertainment activities were a bit underwhelming; they said 10 minutes but we only got about 3 minutes of actual play. There were staff who spoke Chinese, so communication was no problem. There are no dining options right by the hotel, but there's a restaurant called 'Da Dong Seafood Restaurant' that's pretty good and offers great value for money. You might have to queue during peak hours, and getting a taxi back could incur a surcharge."

"This hotel is excellent. It's brand new and completely odor-free. The rooms even have water purifiers for direct drinking, and hot water is readily available – a huge plus since most hotels in Malaysia don't provide bottled mineral water, and buying it outside can be quite cumbersome. The room design is superb and very well-suited for Chinese guests, with brand new kitchen utensils too. The hotel's location is also fantastic. Just a short walk away, you can catch a free bus for sightseeing around Penang. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the former site where Sun Yat-sen founded the Tongmenghui, and GAMA Supermarket is also within walking distance, offering great products at reasonable prices. You can take the free bus to many attractions. It's also conveniently located about a 30-minute drive from the airport. Plus, you can easily get to the jetty to catch a ferry to Butterworth and then take a train to Ipoh, or even directly to Kuala Lumpur. All in all, it's incredibly convenient and definitely worth staying. This hotel is a perfect choice for a trip to Penang."

"Regarding the location, you'll need to call a Grab for everything. It's so hot that walking to the nearest restaurant for breakfast in the morning takes over ten minutes, and by the time you get there, you're already drenched in sweat. We knew this beforehand, though. There's a convenience store downstairs, but it's not cheap. We bought a 5L bottle of water for RM30. As for the room, we booked a suite with two bedrooms and a living room. Each bedroom had a double bed, and there was also a double bed in the living room. One of the bedrooms had an en-suite bathroom, and the other bathroom was shared with the living room. The amenities were quite basic. The bathrooms had shower gel and shampoo, and the water heater was hot enough, but you had to figure out how to use it first. There was an ironing board and iron in the unit, but we didn't use them. There was a washing machine, washing powder, an induction cooker, a pot, a frying pan, large bowls, plates, cutlery, a dining table, and three chairs. We did laundry, and there was enough space to hang clothes, as we could hang them in the bathroom and living room. The worst part was having only three chairs. It's advertised for six people, but with only three chairs, one person always had to stand when we ate together. There were four of us staying there. The toilet paper provided by the host was barely enough. We ended up using our own tissues too. Since we stayed for five nights and often brought takeout back to eat, the rubbish bags weren't sufficient. We had to contact someone to get more. Bath towels were provided in the room, and the pool and gym on the 11th floor were open during the day. We didn't have any children with us, but the facilities on the 11th floor looked like they could keep kids entertained for half a day."

Overall experience ok but there is no lift from carpark to lobby, only staircase.. recommend to drop luggage before going down to basement carpark else you have to carry up which is quite inconvenient Another downside is soundproof not really good. Especially when the crew cleaning room beside, we can hear the vacuum and some noise early in the morning around 8-9am 😔"

"I really enjoyed my stay at Mercure Penang Beach. It was the perfect place for our little babymoon trip. The staff were amazing - all of them were so friendly, attentive, and the hospitality was outstanding. They made sure we had everything we needed and responded to us very quickly. I also made a special request for honeymoon arrangements, and I was so touched when the staff came to our room with a chocolate cake. It was such a sweet surprise that made our stay even more memorable and happy. The facilities were clean and comfortable, and the overall experience was fantastic. "The hotel's location is excellent, about two kilometers from the city center. It's roughly a 10 MYR taxi ride to attractions like Mural Street and surrounding malls in the city center. Taxis to larger, more upscale malls would be around 20-30 MYR. Within a few hundred meters of the hotel, there are countless food stalls and durian stands, making it incredibly convenient for finding food. The hotel rooms are clean, but I found the beds to be a bit short; taller individuals might feel cramped. Overall, it's comparable to a Jinjiang Inn in China. The gym on the 36th floor offers a good experience, but the rooftop pool's water quality isn't great – it's really only suitable for taking photos and enjoying the panoramic views of Penang. This hotel is a good option for families on a budget who prioritize cleanliness and convenience."
