"Staying one night in Wunongding was absolutely worth it! We got incredibly lucky and woke up to the most stunning 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' view the next morning. Watching the sun slowly illuminate the Meili Snow Mountain was a truly breathtaking experience that you have to see to believe. In that moment, all the travel fatigue just melted away, making the journey completely worthwhile!
The hotel's location is fantastic; you can see the snow-capped mountains right from your window, no need to fight for a spot with crowds. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was very quiet at night. In the morning, you can even catch the sunrise right near the hotel. The owner and staff were exceptionally warm and helpful, advising us on the best viewing times and even arranging thoughtful little details. It was a perfect experience.
Witnessing the full 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' in Wunongding is truly the most unforgettable memory of our Yunnan trip. Five stars, highly recommended!"

"The room is located in the center of Deqin County, not far from the snow mountain viewing platform, making it perfect for getting up early to watch the sunrise over the golden snow-capped mountains. The room is very well heated, with underfloor heating, electric heating, and electric blankets. The owner is very welcoming. The house has a shared kitchen where you can cook. It also has a large courtyard where you can easily see a sky full of stars at night. However, the room facilities are somewhat old, there are cobwebs on the lights, and small flying insects can easily fly in if you leave the lights on and open the door at night."

"As a hotel boasting views, it would be great if the room windows could be cleaned more thoroughly with an automatic window cleaner, especially since the scenery is the main selling point. Also, it seems the hotel just opened and hasn't decided whether to be pet-friendly yet. I highly recommend they do! Dog owners who travel with their small dogs and are willing to spend more on good hotels usually have well-behaved pets, and are often very considerate. The views are, without a doubt, amazing, and the staff offers service with a smile. Afternoon tea can be delivered to your room, and you can enjoy the golden sunrise over the mountains right from your room. I hope the hotel continues to improve!"

"This was truly a moving stay! We checked in during Chinese New Year, and because of a flight delay, we didn't arrive until after midnight. The owner came out in the middle of the night to help us with our luggage, turned on the oxygen machine for us, and even brought us instant noodles – absolutely thoughtful! What was even more touching was when they later found out we wanted to go to the observation deck the night before to secure a parking spot. They proactively offered to pick us up, knowing that walking would involve an uphill climb and be quite tiring. My goodness, they offered to pick us up! Even though it was only a 5-minute walk, with the altitude and the climb, the owner's thoughtfulness was incredible and brought tears to my eyes. Getting back to the point, the hotel's location is excellent. The rooftop terrace goes without saying, and the interior of the guesthouse is also absolutely amazing. I've attached photos – perfect for those 'once-in-a-lifetime' shots!"

" I am a person who rarely writes reviews, but my uncle's family is worth sharing! If you want to borrow a lady's words: I want to give 10 points for a full score of 5 points! The uncles and his family are very hospitable, kind and simple! 👨🏻 Uncle knew that we didn't get a taxi, ran dozens of kilometers to pick us up, and told us the precautions in Shangri-La along the way, so that we don't step on the pit, and specially bought a local watermelon for us to eat. 👵👱♀️ Auntie and sister kept giving us delicious food, for fear that we didn’t have enough food, my sister changed the pattern to make us food every day, and the kitchen was happy. The little brother was humorous and full of positive energy. He would arrange a suitable parent-child itinerary for us.  Take us to Niding on foot and pick up fungus. Looking at the first bay of Jinsha River, we also gave us beautiful aerial photography.  and friends caught wild 🐠 and specially asked us to share together. The intimateness of the homeowner's family made us feel the warmth of home, so we stayed for another night. The house is newly renovated, clean, tidy and comfortable, the toilet is separated from wet and dry, the room view is invincible, the front is the Jinsha River, the left is the orchard, and there is a temple next to it (sister said it is very spiritual). The locals will go in and turn around when they have nothing to do. "Overall, my experience at Deqin Guan Jing Tian Tang Grand Hotel was good. The room was basic but clean. A thoughtful touch was the complimentary hot milk and snacks, which were great for a late-night bite. However, the breakfast selection was limited and the taste was quite ordinary, nothing special.
It's worth noting that the room's diffused oxygen supply wasn't very effective, so it might not be enough for those sensitive to altitude sickness; you'd still need your own oxygen tank. On the plus side, the hotel's location offers convenient access to the snow-capped mountains, which is a definite advantage."

"I had an unforgettable stay at Yujian Mountain Snow Mountain Homestay. The host, Ah Wei, is incredibly hospitable and always ready to help, providing excellent service and invaluable advice on trekking trails. The hotel is located at the most beautiful fog top observation deck in Meili Snow Mountain, which not only can enjoy the panoramic view of the thirteen peaks of Prince in Meili Snow Mountain, but also overlooks Biluo Snow Mountain, Baima Snow Mountain and Lancang River Valley. There are many types of rooms in the hotel, all of which are equipped with floor heating and anti-high reaction oxygen concentrators, which can be inhaled by nasal tube, and you can see the whole picture of Meili Snow Mountain when you open the curtains. There is a courtyard dam outside, drinking and singing around the fireplace, and there is an Indian super large tent, eating afternoon tea, lying on the lawn, waiting for the sunrise and sunset. We also have a free sightseeing bus service to take you to the foggy top village------- a tree on the net red ------- the foggy top thirteen white pagoda observation deck.
"I just randomly picked this hotel, but it completely exceeded my expectations! Opening the window revealed a stunning view of snow-capped mountains and a sea of clouds – the romantic snowy scenery was just breathtaking. The room was cozy and clean, with plenty of oxygen, so I didn't have to worry about altitude sickness at all. Just sitting on the balcony quietly watching the snow was so therapeutic and lovely. The service was incredibly attentive, and even though it's located at high altitude, the stay was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend it!"

The hotel is located in the Meili Snow Mountain National Park, facing the Feilaisi viewing platform, which gives the hotel the best angle to enjoy the Mountain View. There are 20 rooms in hotel, all facing the Meili mountain. The big glass windows make all the guests enjoy the spectacular Mountain View easily.
There is a restaurant and a coffee house in hotel. There is buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner are also supplied during 12:00-21:30. Guests can enjoy coffee, wine, and deserts etc. in coffee house during 10:00-22:00.
Outside the coffee house, there is a big platform on which guests can enjoy the first glory sunshine on the golden mountain Meili.
"I booked the Yunshu, room F02, and I highly recommend this room type. The location is absolutely perfect, right above the Meili road sign. Personally, I think the view of the snow-capped mountains from the room is even better than from the Feilai Temple viewing platform downstairs. The floor-to-ceiling window next to the sofa in the room directly faces the Shennü Peak, and you can also see Kawagebo, though unfortunately, the weather wasn't good on the day I was there, so I missed out on that. The room also provides a tripod, which you can set up on the balcony for photos.
The afternoon tea was also great; I absolutely loved the sour tamarind iced Americano. We also had dinner on the first floor (basement), and the food was delicious with generous portions. The staff were all very friendly and even gave us a special souvenir, a cute little cup, when we left. It's a shame we didn't get to see the 'golden mountains in the sun' due to the weather. I'll definitely come back in winter. See you next time, Meili Shiqi! 🤜"

PparaworldThe room was spotless, and the 1.2-meter single bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide variety of options. The hotel staff were all warm and professional. The staff on the 4th-floor viewing platform, in particular, were outstanding; they taught us how to capture beautiful photos of the scenery. The butler service group was incredibly responsive. The hotel is located near the Wunongding viewing platform, so you don't have to brave the early morning cold to see Meili Snow Mountain; you can see it directly from the 4th floor. We were so lucky this time, from January 25th to 27th, we saw the breathtaking 'Sunrise over Golden Mountain' (Rizhao Jinshan) of Meili Snow Mountain for two days, as well as the 'Sunset over Silver Mountain' on the first day. The two documentaries shown at night, ”Kawa Karpo” and ”The Salt Road,” were fascinating. The small gift we received upon check-out was lovely.
However, the dinner selection was uninspiring, and the portions were small. For instance, the stir-fried Pipa pork with matsutake had very little meat and mushrooms, but a lot of green onions. I hope they can improve this aspect!

GGuest UserSince we came from Yubeng Village and didn't rent a car, the hotel's location was indeed much more suitable for self-driving. Fortunately, the hotel accommodated these inconveniences.
The hotel was renovated from an abandoned elementary school, but the overall feel is like a designer's new creation. The amenities were excellent. In addition to the essentials, there was a tea table by the large window facing the mountains. The bed was large, and our room wasn't arranged side by side, but rather one side by one, which was quite unique and even involved a fight over it.
The laundry service was thoughtful, and they even delivered goodnight milk in the evening. I also commend the breakfast, which offered both Chinese and Western options. It was one of the most comfortable and freshest breakfasts I've had in Yunnan these past few days, and the Western dishes were very satisfying.
The hotel is located in a village group of only eight households, a quiet place with both activity and tranquility. The villagers are simple and shy, and after a walk, I joined them in circumambulating the Buddhist scriptures. Nearby are the Baima Snow Mountain, perfect for hiking, the Niding Line, perfect for children, and numerous wineries. The town itself is famous for the story of a French grandmother. Driving on your own is definitely more enjoyable, but mountain roads require some driving skills.
Time is limited, so I'll definitely make up for this regret next time I drive on my own.

**Decor:** Both the hard furnishings and soft furnishings were top-notch. Hansgrohe shower, Duravit sink and toilet, Dyson hairdryer – it made for a very comfortable stay.
**Room:** The hotel wasn't full, so they upgraded my room! It faced Meili Snow Mountain directly. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so I didn't get to see the 'golden sun on the mountain' phenomenon, but the view was still absolutely stunning. Snacks and drinks were complimentary, and the room even had two oxygen panels.
**Service:** The staff were incredibly warm and friendly. The ******* people were so kind and open, often chatting with us and introducing us to their culture and local travel routes. The experience was truly fantastic!
**Food:** We had dinner at the hotel. Although there was a minor hiccup, it was resolved wonderfully. Late at night, we even received a yogurt and fruit bowl, packed with tons of blueberries, strawberries, and more! Delicious! It was like a dream come true for a sweet tooth like me.
What truly sets this place apart are the various ******* activities offered, such as:

* Handmade ******* incense making
* Prayer flag rubbing
These activities made the trip more than just sightseeing and sleeping; they allowed me to understand the local culture much better. Highly recommended!

I'd heard for a while that Meili Podu was the 'must-visit' hotel pinnacle. I'd stayed at Tengchong Podu before and found it rather ordinary, but this time I finally decided to go for the Meili route. The 4-hour drive from Shangri-La wasn't short, but the moment we arrived in Wunongding – it was totally worth it! 🤍
🌄 Environment
We stayed in the White Pagoda Room. Although it didn't face directly onto the main peak of Kawagebo, the window view was still tranquil and therapeutic. Wunongding is quiet with few people. In the morning, drinking hot tea on the balcony and watching the clouds drift among the mountains brought such peace to my mind.
🍰 Snow Mountain View Afternoon Tea for Two
I never expected to find such photo-worthy and delicious afternoon tea at such a high altitude! The pastries were exquisite, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Just staring at the snow-capped mountains, taking photos, and sipping tea – it was the ideal vacation scene! 📸
🛌 Room Experience
The complimentary snacks and drinks in the minibar were plentiful. They even thoughtfully provided a large cloth bag, fearing we couldn't carry everything. The room was warm and clean, and bathing while enjoying the mountain view was absolutely divine. In the evening, we immersed ourselves in making ******* incense and painting Thangkas, truly experiencing ******* culture. Time here became soft and precious.
💁 Service with Full Attention to Detail
Upon entering, we were presented with a Hada (ceremonial scarf) and welcome tea. The service throughout was warm yet restrained. When we checked out, the front desk gave us a prayer wheel and handmade soap. Leaving with such blessings, it felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being a guest at a friend's home for two days.

Environment: The guesthouse is located at the very top of the eastern side of Upper Yubeng. If you don't want to commute by pickup truck or climb the 'Despair Slope', I recommend taking the shortcut directly to Upper Yubeng after the second supply point. The scenery is excellent. The guesthouse has a fantastic view, offering panoramic vistas of three snow-capped mountains. The decor is ******* style, leaning towards minimalist.
Service: The ladies working here were incredibly responsive to all our requests. Upon check-in, we received custom medals and a supply kit. In the evenings, there was ginger tea, fruit, and late-night snacks. After three days of exhausting hikes, returning to the guesthouse, sitting by the fire, drinking ginger tea, and petting the cats brought immense happiness. I highly recommend their milk tea and coffee; their beauty is the least impressive thing about them – they're just that delicious.
Facilities: The hot water temperature was a bit tricky to adjust. As someone sensitive to heat, the water felt too hot after a while.
Lastly, the guesthouse also provides disposable towels and bath towels, so my quick-dry towel went completely unused. Guests might consider this to lighten their backpacks.

The property itself is stunning, especially the vineyard, which adds so much charm. I loved the free wine tasting sessions, and the hosts were incredibly kind, caring, and always eager to make sure we had everything we needed. Their warm hospitality truly made the experience feel personal.
The food was excellent, with every meal prepared thoughtfully and bursting with flavor. For those who love a bit of adventure, the ATV facilities are a fantastic addition. We also enjoyed grape plucking right in the vineyard—such a unique and fun activity!
Overall, this place is a perfect blend of tranquility, great service, and memorable experiences. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature with a touch of adventure.
One small issue I had was that the air-conditioner was blowing warm air, but after I informed the team, they fixed it within a short time. Great service and quick response — really appreciated it!

The room provides a great view of the mountains with floor to ceiling windows and everything in the room, including the bed, chairs, clothes rack and bathroom, are well-maintained and clean. The room provides a sense of luxury and cleanliness during your getaway to this village. The location is excellent, as you are one of the first, if not the first accommodation facing the mountains, so the view is excellent. It is in a great location for exploring upper yubeng and the glacier lake.
What made our stay unforgettable was the amazing service we received by the owner and staff whilst we stayed here. The lady provided us with everything we needed to know during our stay in yubeng, including sunrise times, and answered any and every question we had about yubeng as a whole. They provided an atmosphere that was very welcoming and it really does feel like I was invited to stay at their home. They provided free water and free laundry service, as well as free use of hiking poles for our hikes. The breakfast included was excellent and was different for each day we stayed, and they provide you with a free lunch pack to take on your hike, which was a nice gesture which we appreciated. Additionally, everyone here speaks both mandarin and cantonese, so if you're travelling from Guangdong or Hong Kong and would like to feel at home, this is the perfect place to be.
Overall, this was an amazing accommodation to stay at due to the amazing service, location and facilities and the owner and her family really do treat you like family. I would highly recommend staying here, and if I ever come back to yubeng, I will definitely stay here again!

GGuest UserA lack of budget options in Yubeng has left this place somewhat complacent in its upkeep, and general care-factor.
If you can’t find any staff for afternoon check-in, you can try checking behind the desk to see if there’s one asleep there, like we did.
The room had an oil heater and electric blankets which was great. The beds were clean and comfy, and the make-shift plumbing produced lots of hot water.
There was an AC unit installed as advertised, but it was not able to be connected to the electricity outlet. When asked, a staff member informed us that AC was “not allowed” and that the unit did not have a heating function anyway.
The view from the rooms is oriented down and across the valley, rather than towards the snowy peaks.
You would pay a lot less for this standard of accommodation elsewhere in China, but given that it is in Yubeng, the remoteness necessarily increases its cost. both Upper and Lower Yubeng are experiencing a huge construction boom, no doubt in anticipation of the upcoming opening of the upgraded road to Xidang. The future situation might well increase competition in the future.
