"Not far from the train station, it's very convenient to walk. The hotel has just been renovated and is very clean. The front desk staff are enthusiastic and professional. The hotel has an overall Japanese style, and you need to store your shoes on the first floor when you enter. The room is not big but sufficient. Although the bed is only 1.4 meters, the experience was quite good. The bathroom is very clean. There's a hot spring on the top floor and laundry facilities. Through the window, you can admire the train station below and the distant mountains. Japanese breakfast is offered in the morning with a good variety. Free Japanese ramen is served after 9 PM. Satisfied."

"Location: The hotel is situated at the foot of a mountain in Satoyama, a considerable distance from JR Matsumoto Station. However, it offers a unique charm with panoramic views of Matsumoto Castle from the hillside. Transportation: Unless you're driving or taking a taxi, here are your options: 1) The hotel provides a shuttle service to and from JR Station. There are two morning departures at 9 and 10 AM, passing by Matsumoto Castle before heading to JR Station. Return trips are at 4 and 5 PM. The pick-up point is at the temporary parking area to the right of JR Station Matsumoto Castle Exit (not a bus stop). 2) You can take the Meigahara Onsen bus line from the bus terminal downstairs at Alpico Plaza, opposite the temporary parking lot of JR Station, and get off at Fujii Station. You can find the bus schedule on Google Maps. Service: There are English-speaking staff at the front desk, but no Chinese speakers. Simple communication is not an issue. The service was impeccable. Dining: The breakfast is a buffet style with both Japanese and Western options, very extensive and delicious. There are also welcome drinks, including ice cream, juice, coffee, hot tea, and even draft beer! P.S. There are not many dining options near the hotel, so you might want to eat near JR Station before returning to the hotel, or dine at the hotel. I booked one of the few rooms with a private onsen. Soaking in the hot spring while enjoying views of the Northern Alps was incredibly relaxing. The hotel also has a large terrace, perfect for enjoying a drink during the evening 'blue hour' – truly one of life's most comfortable moments."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Exceptional Stay! We had an exceptional stay at Tabino Hotel. The room we booked was spacious, spotlessly clean, modern, and very comfortable. One of the highlights was waking up to the beautiful view of the Japanese Alps. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of choices, making it a wonderful start to each day. We also loved the hotel’s massage chairs and relaxing sauna, which were perfect after a day of sightseeing. The location is excellent—close to the train station, Matsumoto Castle, museums, and the famous Nakamachi and Nawate shopping streets. The bus stop for Kamikochi is also nearby, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. Everything exceeded our expectations, from the facilities to the cleanliness and location. We highly recommend Tabino Hotel and would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Matsumoto."

"I chose the Hotel Buena Vista for my stay in Matsumoto. It's a fairly large hotel with a beautiful lobby, and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. The only minor drawback was that there were so many guests in the morning that we had to queue for breakfast, which was a first for me."

"The hotel is nice and new, and the reception staff are polite and speak fluent English. Although the room is not very spacious, it is compact yet sufficient to accommodate two suitcases. It is a five-minute walk from the station and is located on the quieter side of the city. The hotel also provides free ramen or ice cream at night. However, the chef seemed unhappy, and his tone felt quite condescending when speaking English. Overall, it was a lovely stay!"

"It seems like it has recently been renovated, so some of the basic parts are still old, but it was well-maintained and the facility was clean. I think the meals were well-balanced without being too heavy on meat. The bath is said to come from a hot spring source, but it was so hot that I had to be careful to get into it. However, I think the power of the hot springs is that I was able to stay in light clothes until the morning without getting cold. If the changing room is dark, you will not feel safe, so I think it would be better if it was a little brighter. I think the distance between the staff was just right, but since my luggage was heavy, I wish I had an elevator."

"The location is great, less than a 10-minute walk from the station and easy to find, right on the main street without any turns. It's also only 5 minutes from Matsumoto Castle, making it very convenient for night views. The room is small but sufficient. Breakfast was excellent, and they even offered a complimentary beef bowl upon arrival. All the facilities are well-equipped. Highly recommend."

"Standard business hotel. It’s clean and simple. However, it looks and smells old. The hallway has a musty smell and the hotel bathroom smells of wet clothes that didn’t dry well. Front desk service is excellent as they went as far as calling my next hotel to help arrange for luggage delivery (usually front desk just accepts without questions). In addition, they speak decent English. The hotel also provides free shuttle to an offsite onsen although I didn’t have a chance to make use of it."

"The staff at this place alone deserve five stars. They were kind and very helpful. When we asked about laundry, they immediately directed us to a dry cleaner a few minutes away: ¥1000 (approx. €6) for washing and ¥400-600 (approx. €2-4) for drying. That's the convenient option, not the cheapest one; the one after the bridge is a bit further but more economical. That said, some honest notes about the room. Upon entering, there was a strong, stale, stuffy odor – not a great welcome. The heron-themed divider separating the entrance from the main room was completely covered in dust, absolutely caked with it. And when drying your hair, the dust flies everywhere and can trigger allergies. We aren't overly picky travelers, but for €193, you'd expect at least a thorough cleaning of the corners. It was clearly years of accumulated dust. Also, be careful with the mini-fridge; it freezes at setting 3 out of 7. The location is convenient. The staff's kindness really boosts the overall rating."

The staff are consistently warm, polite, and attentive, which truly enhances the overall stay experience. A thoughtful touch is the complimentary soba noodles served at 9:30pm — a simple yet memorable highlight not to be missed. The only minor drawback would be the room size — it is rather compact (as expected in Japan), but well-equipped with all the essentials and thoughtfully laid out for a comfortable stay."
