"This was my first time staying at a hostel from this chain, the one near Kunming's Zhuanxin Farmers Market, and I remember it had a beautiful bougainvillea bush! I chose Qincheng Hostel again, this time picking this specific branch because it's super close to Cuihu Lake, Wenlin Street, and Yunnan University. Their restaurant offers a great variety of food and drinks, and I particularly love their curry beef rice. There are activities every day, and especially on Saturday nights, they have a concert. The singer's voice is unique and beautiful, and listening to music in their cozy bar is just the most comfortable experience. 'Hei Mu Ya' (Blackwood Cliff) is their elevated platform, nestled among huge eucalyptus trees. It's really peaceful on rainy days and nice and cool when it's hot."

"During my stay at Yaju, I learned how to distinguish different types of succulents. Not because someone taught me, but because I'd go up to the rooftop every day, and when I was bored, I'd take photos with Doubao (a photo recognition app) one by one to ask about them. Everything here is slow-paced: coffee takes time, wine needs to be sampled, and a game of chess lasts half an hour. But the guests are never in a hurry; it's as if time automatically slows down a beat once you arrive. Yaju probably aims to be a place where people aren't afraid to 'waste' time."

"The hostel is 6 minutes from the Kunming Railway station! NORTH gate. I made the mistake of leaving by the south gate and had to walk about 15 minutes through some underpass. There was a communication issue because I don't read well in Mandarin Chinese and the map that tells you it's the north gate is a photo so I can't just do a quick translation. Kicked up a fuss about that and the staff/ owner was apologetic. She was really very pleasant and helpful. Perhaps in future correspondences, the North Gate should be emphasised simply because of the accomodation's proximity to the station. Thank you for a very comfortable stay. The accomodation is clean and neat, and quiet because the host has clearly put much thought into the design."

"Advantages: The location is very convenient, the complex is close to the train station, there are many restaurants downstairs, the bed is quite comfortable with a small lamp and a closet, and the mattress is very comfortable without being too firm. The facilities are also quite complete, with a washing machine, plenty of clothes hangers, and a kitchen for cooking. Disadvantages: You need to put on your own duvet cover and make your bed (if you're on the top bunk, doing this is really tiring), which might not be suitable for late-night guests. After a long day, making your own bed is tiring and might disturb other guests. The room space is quite cramped; the beds seem to take up all the space. There are no closets, and with long-term tenants, there's absolutely no place to put luggage. After two days, I had to put my suitcase on the living room balcony. Because there's no storage, the long-term tenants' belongings are also left out, making it look very messy."

"It seems like a young couple is running this place and they are really cute. They keep the place as clean as possible. Very central location. Nice views as mentioned by others. The map position is correct but entering the building is a hassle. During daytime, I sometimes wait together with others for someone to exit the building so I can enter. I checked in by annoying the sleeping security guy who showed me the way to the hostel. There is no information upfront, no signs whatsoever. There could at least be a message with instructions (24th floor, turn left). There is a kettle for boiling your own drinking water. They could make a few extra bucks by providing a fridge with drinks. Not sure if there are towels, but I wasn't given any. Average Chinese-style squat toilet which is on par with any other Asian country around 30 years ago. Didn't meet a whole lot of people here."

Traveling to the hotel is easy with Kunming Railway Station located approximately 700m away and Kunming Changshui International Airport roughly 27km away. The closest major public transportation, Kunming Railway Station Metro Station, is only 800m away. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Jinri Building, Baohai Park and Kunming Van Gogh Starry-Night Art Museum all nearby. At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city. This Kunming hotel offers parking on site. Guests tell us the location of this hotel is fantastic.
"Location was great that it was a walk away from the Kunming Railway Station where I needed to be to leave the city. I liked how it was near a lot of food places! The volunteer Evens was an interesting person to talk to when I learned about his background in what he does as an occupation and where he is originally from in China. The owner Winni was a nice person as well and I appreciated and enjoy her and some of the other guests that cooked for us the night that we had a big dinner. Thank you for being part of the chef crew Winni. Everybody who stayed at the place was respectful and considered towards one another in the way that they conducted themselves. Was able to go along with the rules of this hostel because it fit my daily habits. Nobody had any habits that bothered me. Not really into the hostel type of stays, due to lack of privacy. Was just happy to stay at this place since it was pretty much right at the doorstep of the Kunming Railway station where I can catch my train on time where I wouldn't end up getting lost in the city which in turn would end up missing it. The only negative thing that I didn't like was that the bathroom did not have bath towels and just regular hand towels where I would not be able to dry myself very well after showering. Because of this I didn't want to take a shower at this place and the fact that these towels were used repeatedly from other guests, which made me feel uncomfortable wanting to use it. Would come back to this Hostel again if I happen to have to come back to Kunming again where I needed to be near this train station to catch at train there."

GGuest UserI booked the Single room because I wanted to have a calm night but I also wanted to socialise that’s why I booked a hostel. First of all the receptionist was the cutest! She helped me with everything and was so kind. My room was big and the view from the balcony was spectacular. BUT the bed was really really really hard. You could feel the metal feather coming through. The receptionist gave me a few blankets to make the bed softer which helped. But if you are a sensitive sleeper I can’t recommend. In the end I slept better than expected. But keep in mind, it’s still a hostel. So, you will hear doors being shut regularly. If you are sensitive this will wake you up. The hostel itself is really cute and nice! The views are amazing. If you want to meet locals this is the perfect place. I didn’t meet any other foreign travelers here though. You can also wash and cook here. So all in all it’s a good and cheap hostel IF you are not a sensitive sleeper.

KKa-LaLaLaIt is our own fault but we did not realise that this was so far out of the city and at the entrance gate of a cultural Stockade. The host was helpful but there was a bit of an odour from the bathroom.  if your purpose to stay here is to see the cultural stock then this would be a good location but there are no restaurants nearby.  There was a nice view from our window of the lake and some beautiful traditional architecture to walk around and see in the area.

GGuest UserThis hostel is really great and the boss is good. I highly recommend everyone especially foreigners to make contact with the boss prior to arriving so you don’t get lost like me🤣🤣. I called the boss via trip.com app, and he replied to me straight away. He is very good at responding and quickly helped me. The hostel is thoroughly cleaned and has a kitchen. The location is great. The boss also recommended me some places I can visit in Kunming.

MMingyuA hotel with a very folk-style environment, it is relatively clean in a village, and behind it is the folk customs. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the village to Dianchi Lake. The whole feeling is surrounded by strong ethnic culture. It is a good travel experience. It is also close to eating, and there are more famous ethnic restaurants nearby.

GGuest UserFirst time staying at a youth hostel, and it was a great experience! First off, the environment was really good. Both the sleeping areas and the bathrooms/toilets were very clean, with no grime or unpleasant odors. You do need to bring your own toothbrush cup, toothbrush, and a bag for your clothes. Checking in and storing your belongings is done with a card, which is very convenient and secure, so you don't have to worry about your roommates. Everyone was quiet, mostly keeping to themselves without much interaction. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and the price was excellent too.

GGuest UserThe staff here is quite nice, they give you a disposable towel (a nightmare for the environment but it's a kind gesture, though), there is free drinking water at the reception and there was a washing machine that was free to use. The building is super interesting and has a very cool cylinder-shaped courtyard where people love taking photos. The building is full of artsy places and cafés. The reception is on another floor and quite far away from the dorm, though. That also means that most people will stay in the dorm, eating, being on phones etc. The problem here is that the hostel failed to put up signs that food isn't allowed in the rooms so you can't point those guests towards it. What is normal in almost every other country isn't normal in this one. Whenever I have a roommate who feels like he needs to burp every 30 seconds, fart and clear his throat at the same time, I want to book a ticket out of this country immediately. At this hostel I was also unlucky in that regard. I'm mentioning this because certain types of hostels attract certain types of people. These Chinese-style squat toilets they have here mean that you will stand in someone else's piss every time you enter the bathroom. And that toilet is right underneath you when you take a shower.

TToulaishHad a wonderful stay here. I felt at home in this place. The owner and daughter are very friendly and helpful. The lower bunks are actually bigger than usual bed bunks. The location is excellent! It is right in the heart of the city center. There are many affordable restaurants in the area. Kunming city center is charming 😍. Overall, I had a good and positive experience staying in this hostel.

PPuteri KhalidaIf you just waiting for train or would like to stay for a short period of time and didnt care about the toilet, you can stay here. The toilet is outside, for us its creepy to go to toilet at night due to dim light and we had to go all of us. Overall since we waiting for our train early in the morning, it really helps us in short of time since we can just walked.
