"Had a perfect stay at Tennen Osaka Onsen during our Kyoto trip. The hotel is clean, modern, and comfortable while still retaining some traditional Japanese elements in the room design, which gives it a unique and authentic atmosphere. The water pressure was excellent, and the complimentary onsen facilities were fantastic, with several different pools available to enjoy. One of the highlights was the generous complimentary offerings, including free-flow ramen and ice cream, which were a lovely bonus after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast deserves special mention — it was absolutely outstanding. There was a huge variety of choices, all freshly prepared and delicious. The staff continuously refilled the food, ensuring everything remained fresh throughout service. The quality of the ingredients was impressive, and guests could enjoy unlimited freshly fried tempura and fresh seafood poke bowls, which felt more like a premium restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast. Overall, an exceptional stay with excellent facilities, amazing food, and great value. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Kyoto."

"Facilities: You have to walk through an alley to find the hotel entrance. Upon entering, you pass by the staff area. The lobby environment, facing a small courtyard, is quite pleasant. However, the quality of the Otowa Hall is mediocre. They claim to offer complimentary soft drinks and snacks, but in reality, there isn't much choice. The coffee machine area was cluttered with used coffee cups, making it look a bit dirty. Service: Hotel check-in time is 3 PM, but I arrived at 2:30 PM after some early shopping. The staff brought out some snacks and even knelt down to meticulously explain the hotel's layout and check-in procedures. Hygiene: I stayed in a Japanese-style room with a tatami mat. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the environment, but the bed sheets had a strong, stale odor. It felt like they weren't changed between guests... even perfume couldn't cover the smell. Overall, I felt this hotel prioritizes formality. The internal quality still has room for improvement!"

You can pick up disposable amenities yourself from the right-hand corner of the lobby, facing the front desk. Both the hot spring bath and the laundry/drying room are located on the 10th floor."

"I had a great overall stay at this Osaka hotel, primarily thanks to its fantastic location which offers easy access to public transport and sits within walking distance of major tourism spots. While the room was quite small and the facilities were limited—which is expected for a 3-star property—the space was well-utilized and served as a convenient base for exploring. What really stood out was the service; the staff were incredibly polite and helpful throughout my visit, making the experience feel welcoming despite the simpler accommodations."

"Love the location and the peace in Arashiyama. Nice place to relax after a very busy week visiting places in Osaka and Kyoto. Love the private bath in the room we booked❤️ plus the private onsen bath especially if you have tattoo. Who doesn’t love a free ice cream/cold green tea after onsen😄 and don’t miss the free ramen from 22:30-23:30 😊 lastly, the staff are really nice, helpful, and the Japanese breakfast was very tasty! "Excellent location in Central Kyoto, right in the heart of shopping district, plenty of food options, and a short walk to Gion on the East. Very near to Hankyu train station that goes to Osaka Umeda. Staff were so friendly, always smiling and ready to assist. Rooms on the smaller side, not sure if it's the layout that made it feel more cramped, but Japan hotel rooms are generally like that. Best thing about this hotel is the open air natural hot spring! Amazing view of the mountains and you can even see Kiyomizu Dera temple in the distance. The water temperature was also not burning hot like some other public baths. There are complimentary drinks (including alcohol) on the rooftop terrace everyday from 4.30 to 6pm. Also free drinks from coffee machine all day in the lounge. I did not take hotel breakfast as I saw it is only simple bento box instead of buffet, so you can get better food outside."

"The hotel is located close to Kyoto Station, about a 5-minute walk. The staff was very nice and helped us put our luggage in the room. They explained patiently. There is free soda, coffee and cola in the lobby. The room I rented had a tatami mat, very traditional decoration, and the lock was keyed. The room is very large, and it is very convenient to store luggage. The toilet and shower are separate. You can use the Japanese public bath for free, there are not too many people, and the experience is great. There are many handwritten thank-you letters from customers in the hotel lobby, which is very touching."

A very comfortable hot spring hotel, located in the mountains, clean and tidy, the food is also great, it is highly recommended, the main point is that the boss and his family are really very, very good, because we had some problems at the time and lost our passport, the boss has been very enthusiastic to help call the taxi company and the police to help find it, the next day he sent us to the police station to report the case and later sent us to the subway station. I was really touched by the help of the boss and his family, and I am also very sorry that my carelessness has caused trouble to others. Fortunately, with everyone's help, the passport was found the next morning. I am really lucky. If I have the opportunity to go to Kyoto again in the future, I will choose this place again!

We took a taxi to this location because it was a little too far by bus, and we had all of our luggage with us. The location is beautiful. If you're only staying for one night like we did, then you should check in at the earliest (3:00 pm) so you can explore the local area. There are some really nice shrines nearby. We were only able to do this after breakfast the next morning. We also had to be out by 10:00 am, which surprised us because it was listed as 11:00 am on Trip.com. You will be served traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They do an excellent job of presenting all of the dishes, and the service is also incredible. But if you're not used to eating raw fish, or traditional Japanese cuisine in general, you should definitely bring your own snacks to eat in your room! We stayed in the Garden view room with tatami mats. The staff will actually rearrange the room for you during dinner and set up your beds if you select this room. That was a very nice touch, so make sure you don't leave your room a total mess before dinner! I have added a picture of the beds after they were set up. The garden view was well worth the money we spent for it. Very relaxing and beautiful. And surprisingly enough...the tatami beds were super comfortable and warm!

This time, I stayed at the annex, and both check-in and check-out were incredibly fast and smooth. The service standards were exceptionally high, and the location was very convenient. The only downside to the entire hotel was that the showerhead couldn't be fixed securely, which made showering a bit inconvenient. Otherwise, all other facilities and drink provisions were excellent, and the breakfast was exquisite. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

My Kyoto trip was particularly satisfying with this Kyoto townhouse. It had a garden, a private hot spring bath, and was brimming with Japanese charm. The breakfasts were especially delightful, with a wide variety and different dishes each day. After breakfast, there was also a traditional Kyoto matcha and carefully selected sweets; the owner even patiently explained the proper way to drink the matcha. It's a bit far from the subway, but there are several bus stops nearby, making it quite convenient. Strolling along Kyoto's charming streets and discovering hidden gems of little shops was also a delightful experience.

This is a budget hotel aiming for something more—and they’ve genuinely succeeded. The room was probably the smallest we’ve ever stayed in (think sleeping on a boat or in an RV), but it was spotless and well designed. Every afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 the hotel offers a complimentary sake bar in the lobby.  They also offer an impressive selection of amenities: toothbrushes, razors, face masks, serums, bath salts, and more. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of variety. The onsen is O.K. and alternates between men’s and women’s use. We used the laundry and it is conveniently located and inexpensive.  It rained while we were there and they offered us umbrellas. The staff are friendly and helpful, without exception. The location is fantastic—just steps from Teramachi and Nishiki Markets, an easy walk to multiple train stations, and close to both the Gion and Pontocho districts. There are countless restaurants in every direction. On one of the afternoons during our four‑night stay, the hotel even hosted a free maiko (apprentice geisha) performance in the lobby, which was beautifully done.

When we chose this hotel, we saw pictures and videos that made us think it was a resort estate, but it's not. There's very little to see inside the hotel; I could walk through the entire property in 5 minutes. Secondly, the hotel advertises natural hot springs, but the public ones reek of disinfectant as soon as you walk in, which is very unpleasant. The room itself was okay and had character, and the bathtub was very large with a pleasant woody scent when bathing. Finally, the breakfast – honestly, the taste was just mediocre. I wouldn't choose this hotel again at the same price point.

The hotel has a very authentic Japanese style, giving it a cozy, home-like feel. The hot spring baths are also great and free to use. Breakfast was very rich, and the rice, in particular, was delicious. The only downside is that breakfast starts quite early, and the room facilities are a bit basic, but overall, the value for money is still acceptable.

This Japanese-style guesthouse is very authentic. It has an open-air hot spring bath and the meals feature a delicious miso hot pot with plenty of vegetables. We visited during cherry blossom season, so it was crowded, but the customer service team was very helpful and actively assisted us in finding a better room type, which we really appreciated! It's surrounded by forest, and we heard that in autumn and winter, there are bear families around, but the owner seems quite used to it!

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just about a ten-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station and a mere five minutes from Aeon Mall, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and subway and Kintetsu stations are also nearby. The hotel breakfast is also great, offering a good variety of both Japanese and Western options, and the service is very attentive. The public bath, however, is quite small. I was hoping to soak there every evening to relax, but on my second night, I encountered someone bizarrely scrubbing their feet and legs in the pool! I was so disgusted I immediately fled and never went back. Luckily, there's a bathtub in the room, so I ended up using that instead. Overall, the hotel offers great value for money, and I'm very satisfied! 🈵

The hotel is very pretty, Andre Fu never fails to impress! Breakfast was nice with good variety to choose from, would be great if we can have a drink menu as well. The room was a bit small for 3 ladies and the bathroom is quite transparent. Would be great if switchable smart glass is used instead for the bathroom window for privacy. Despite the minor inconvenience, the bathtub is amazing and spacious. It’s perfect for couple. The thermal spring is clean and is usually not busy. The hotel provides swim suit for guests as it is a mixed pool. The service was smooth and the environment is very relaxing. The only thing we didn’t like about the spring was that there is no natural lights as it is located in the basement. Don’t miss out on the morning breathing session! Special shoutout to the concierge team as they very efficiently helped us with restaurant and workshops recommendation and bookings prior to our arrival. Taxis were arranged promptly every time. We had a really good time in Kyoto and we can’t wait to come back again!
