Review: A Beautiful, Design-Led Oasis in Fisherman’s Village We recently stayed at the Hansar Samui, and it is truly a beautiful property with a thoughtful design. The location is perfect—just a short, pleasant stroll away from Fisherman’s Village, making it easy to explore the local area while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to. The Highlights Dining Experience: The breakfast was a standout. I particularly appreciated having eggs made fresh to order; there is nothing worse than pre-cooked, rubbery eggs left under heat lamps, so this was a huge bonus for me. The Vibe: The swimming pool is lovely, and the beach is kept very clean. The hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a great selection of background music. Service & Little Touches: The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. I loved the ”turn-down” service around 5:00 PM, where housekeeping brought little chocolates and water—an adorable touch that made us feel looked after. Facilities: The gym is clean and well-maintained. Crucially for those working remotely, the Wi-Fi was excellent and reliable enough for me to take Zoom meetings without any issues. Room Design: The rooms are beautifully decorated with stunning balconies and views. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the large rainfall shower. Room Comfort & Maintenance We did have a significant issue with the bed. The mattresses are very soft, which didn't suit us at all as my husband has a bad back. It made sleeping quite difficult. However, the staff were wonderful and tried their best to accommodate us; they helped remove the mattress so we could sleep on the wooden base with just the mattress topper. While not ”luxury” comfort, it was much better for his back than the soft mattress. We also had a few issues with a temperamental toilet flush, but to the hotel's credit, maintenance was very prompt in coming to fix it each time. Dining & Logistics We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, ordering the Massaman curry and Chicken Panang. While the food was edible, it was just ”okay”—we were perhaps expecting a bit more given how high the quality of breakfast was. That said, the view from the restaurant in the evening is spectacular, and they occasionally have lovely entertainment. One small hiccup occurred when we booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the pier for our trip to Koh Phangan. The driver unfortunately dropped us at the wrong port. We had to quickly catch a Grab to the correct one, but luckily we made it just in time for our ferry. Overall Despite a few minor glitches, this was a wonderful stay. The aesthetic of the hotel is gorgeous, and the professionalism of the staff ensures that any issues are handled quickly. I would definitely recommend Hansar for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxed stay in Samui!

Excellent Stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui! We drove all the way from Bangkok, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The concierge team promptly assisted with our luggage and parked our car, making our arrival completely seamless. The lobby and check-in area are absolutely stunning, overlooking the beautiful Koh Samui coastline. It is one of the best places to enjoy a breathtaking sunset. We were assigned Room 503, which was very spacious and thoughtfully designed. The privacy compartment doors made it ideal for families, and the sofa bed was surprisingly large and comfortable—perfect for our 19-year-old son. Pros: - A beautiful private beach with complimentary kayaking. While it may not be the best beach for swimming, it is perfect for relaxing and enjoying water activities. - The buggy service was incredibly fast and efficient. Every driver was friendly, cheerful, and always ready to take us anywhere around the resort within minutes. - Outstanding hospitality and guest service. Every staff member made us feel genuinely welcome. A special thank you to Mr. Ruben for taking such great care of us throughout our stay. - The concierge team did an excellent job arranging our private long-tail boat tour. We had a wonderful day visiting Pig Island, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, and enjoying the beauty of Koh Samui. Everything was organized perfectly. - The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious options. The bacon and pastries were among the best we've had, and a special thank you to Mr. Ping for serving us the sweetest, most delicious mangoes every morning. - Our housekeeping attendant, Mr. Renu from Myanmar, was exceptionally polite, friendly, and professional. He kept our room spotless every day, and his attention to detail made our stay even more comfortable. During check-out, I had a pleasant conversation with Bernice, the Director of Rooms from Malaysia. Our chat about Malaysian food brought back wonderful memories and was a lovely way to end our stay. Three nights simply were not enough at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui. This is the kind of resort where you should stay for at least one week to fully enjoy everything it has to offer. Unfortunately, I didn't even have enough time to experience the gym, which looked excellent. Only one small suggestion: the breakfast seating area can get a little warm during the morning. Of course, that's part of the tropical outdoor atmosphere—almost like a natural sauna—but a few more cooling fans would make the experience even more comfortable. Overall, we completely fell in love with The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui. The breathtaking scenery, luxurious accommodations, impeccable service, and warm hospitality from every member of the team made this an unforgettable vacation. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a truly world-class stay in Koh Samui.

This was our second time at Garrya Tongsai Bay, and we truly love it here. The staff throughout the entire hotel provide exceptional service, always warm, genuine, and making you feel valued. We were particularly touched when a server at the restaurant remembered us from last year—it really shows that the hotel has a very comprehensive and thoughtful guest service training system in place. The dining is also fantastic; both the seafood restaurant and the Thai restaurant are delicious. The hotel has its own private beach, and while the sand is a bit coarse, it's incredibly comfortable for relaxing. While the room facilities are a bit dated, the excellent service far outweighs any minor hardware issues, making for an overall superb vacation experience. We've already decided we'll be back again and genuinely recommend this hotel.

The hotel was excellent We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. It is absolutely perfect for families. The kids’ playrooms are thoughtfully designed with so many options for all ages, which made our children incredibly happy and engaged throughout the stay. The spa area and sauna are outstanding, beautifully maintained and deeply relaxing. Even though there was a huge conference taking place during our visit, everything felt perfectly organized and calm. The level of management was truly impressive. A very special thank you to Boss Concierge, who went above and beyond for us. He helped us retrieve a forgotten bag with such efficiency and genuine care. What could have been a stressful situation was handled smoothly and professionally, and we felt completely supported throughout. The entire staff was kind, attentive, and welcoming. Overall, the hotel doesn't offer good value for money and feels more like a 3-star property. 1. The rooms are very small. They're fine for two people, but we saw a family of three trying to squeeze in, and it looked very cramped. Soundproofing is poor; you can hear doors moving in the next room and footsteps from upstairs. There are no bathrobes or slippers in the rooms. 2. When booking, consider the building's location – try to get one away from the restaurant. Otherwise, the restaurant's air conditioning kicks in at 5:30 AM and hums loudly all day. This noise forced us to change rooms, which took a full day. We also had issues with an irritable front desk agent who insisted we check out at 12:00 PM but said our new room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 PM. We disagreed, but he refused to help and yelled at us. This inappropriate behavior from the agent really soured our vacation. He refused to call a manager and even lied, claiming he *was* the manager. We had to find the general manager ourselves to resolve the issue. Thankfully, we were eventually helped and moved to a new room by 10:30 AM. 3. Breakfast was decent, with a good variety, and there was always enough food. 4. The pool is shallow (1.20m), really only suitable for children. It's also noisy on the grounds during the day. 5. The beach is clean and nice. 6. There are plenty of sun loungers. 7. They organize volleyball games at 5:00 PM. 8. In the evenings, neighboring hotels set up tables on the beach for dinner, but this hotel doesn't offer that. Perhaps if it weren't for the rude front desk agent at the start of our stay, our experience would have been much more positive!

Booked a sea view room, located on a hillside, and the views were absolutely unbeatable. The room was also spotlessly clean, and the air conditioning worked great. The breakfast buffet offered different options every day, and we also got a free hour of kayaking. The restaurant had a different themed dinner set menu every night, and the food was delicious. Very satisfied overall.

The hotel was excellent. The staff who picked us up from the airport, both for arrival and departure, provided fantastic service. On the first day, we booked a room with a bathroom by the pool and enjoyed complimentary drinks. On the second day, we moved to a beachfront room, which had an amazing atmosphere. The hotel is very old. There's almost no grounds. It consists of a main building and bungalows with a bit of greenery. The pool smelled strongly of chlorine, so we didn't go in. It's too small for swimming anyway. Room: Partially renovated with a huge, modern TV. However, the bathroom is long overdue for a renovation – the shower is rusty, the faucets are terrible, and the shower curtain has turned yellow at the bottom from rust! The balcony is nice, but the neighbors are so close it feels uncomfortable. The breakfast was good, with plenty of options. The sea, though, is wonderful! The entry is very quick, the water is clear, and the jet skis aren't directly in front of the hotel. Cafes and shops are right outside the exit. Lotus Supermarket is about 700 meters away; they have a good and inexpensive food court, and the prices in the supermarket are the cheapest.

Excellent hotel, beautiful and well-maintained. The breakfasts were good. The hotel has direct access to a street with cafes, shops, and currency exchange offices. The rooms are spacious. Since we were celebrating a birthday during our stay, the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade from our booked room to a suite for the entire duration, which was a lovely surprise! The hotel has one unique feature, which I wouldn't call a downside. The beach at the hotel isn't suitable for swimming; the water is only knee-deep and separated from the sea by rocks (I've attached photos). However, because of this, the pool area is very private, with no passersby. To reach deeper water, you need to walk along the shore for about 10 minutes. We rented sun loungers there for 100 baht for the whole day, and you could also get food and drinks there (much cheaper than at the hotel).

It is a very good place to relax, quiet, peaceful, really relaxing. The accommodation is beautiful, the sunlight, the lights, the air conditioning is cool, everything is good. If I go to Samui again, I will definitely come back to stay again.
