"This was my second stay at Hotel Clad, and to my surprise, I was assigned the exact same room as last time—talk about fate! The location is pretty much unbeatable if you're here for outlet shopping. It's less than a 5-minute walk to Gotemba Premium Outlets, and a taxi from Gotemba Station costs around 2,000 JPY. They also offer luggage storage both before check-in and after check-out, so you don't have to drag your bags around. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the 10:00 AM check-out time. It feels a bit early, leaving you quite rushed if you want to sleep in before packing. Once the outlets close at night, there's really not much to do around the area, so you basically spend the evening at the hotel's onsen. Luckily, the private bath experience was quite nice, which made up for the quiet night. Overall, it's still a hassle-free choice for shopping at the Gotemba outlets, and I'll most likely stay here again next time."

"An exceptional hotel with superb value for money and an excellent stay experience! 👍 First off, the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly. The room was spacious, and I loved the dimly lit lounge area before entering both the indoor and outdoor hot springs. Plus, the hotel boasts a pool with lake views! 👍 The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety, and as a vegetarian, I found plenty of delicious options. The Vegetarian Lasagna was particularly good! To top it off, the hotel lobby on the ground floor even offered complimentary drinks and snacks for three hours during certain periods – what a pleasant surprise! More importantly, the hotel is located on the shores of Lake Hamana in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. It's a peaceful retreat away from the city's hustle and bustle. As someone who enjoys morning runs, the lakeside trail was perfect for jogging. The serene and beautiful lake views in the morning, coupled with the fresh air, made it an ideal place to relax and rejuvenate. 👍 I definitely plan on staying here for a few days every year! 🌹🌹🌹 Thank you, Trip.com, for helping me discover this wonderful hotel!"

"This was definitely my favorite hotel on this Izu trip! The value for money was exceptional, the views were great, and both dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared. I saw some average reviews, but I actually found it to be quite good. My only minor complaint would be the limited shuttle service. In the morning, there are only shuttles at 9:20, 9:50, and a bit after 10:00. I arrived at 11:00 and had to make my own way to the hotel, which was a bit far, but the walk wasn't difficult and was actually quite pleasant. For your second day, I'd highly recommend catching the 9:20 shuttle to make the 9:37 Black Ship cruise to Shimoda!"

"We were extremely satisfied with our stay at this hotel in Atagawa. Every corner of the hotel was thoughtfully decorated, and the staff were very welcoming. The same young man handled both check-in and check-out, and we communicated fluently in English throughout. He provided detailed information, and since we hadn't booked dinner, he proactively recommended several nearby restaurants and local specialties. We even tried the nearby restaurants ”Nishiki” and ”Oboro.” He was especially considerate when we checked out, offering to drive us to the station – a very thoughtful gesture. During our stay, we also enjoyed the two outdoor onsen rooms on the third floor. Soaking in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves was truly relaxing. I highly recommend experiencing this hotel in Atagawa."

"It's about a ten-minute drive from Izu Kogen Station. The hotel is quite large, divided into several areas, ranging from luxury to economy. We booked a Japanese-style suite in the main building with a great view. The hotel has many free facilities that you can check on the map and experience one by one. The hot spring facility next door has an open-air bath. Soaking in the hot springs by the moonlit sea at night was very relaxing, with the constant sound of the waves. The breakfast included sashimi and various snacks, which was quite rich, but the selection was almost identical for two consecutive days. I'm giving three stars for service, specifically for the front desk. This hotel has quite a few Indian staff members. So why only three stars? The 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of the hotel all have scenic ocean view rooms, but Chinese guests are always assigned to the 5th floor or rooms near the elevator. Having stayed at many hotels, I can sense the subtle discrimination and differential treatment here. If the price booked through Ctrip is lower than what Japanese tourists pay, then disregard my comment. Finally, this hotel is very family-friendly, perfect for those with children. If you prefer quiet, a hotel of this size won't be quiet at all; you should choose a smaller onsen ryokan instead."

"The Japanese-style tatami room was very clean and tidy. The bathroom had a small bathtub, but this wasn't an issue considering the 24-hour rotating male and female onsen (hot spring) facilities. One of the onsen pools is outdoors and offers a great view. Language isn't a problem here; the front desk has multi-language translation cards for most inquiries. The hotel is located in a quiet small town. There's a 7-Eleven about a 7-minute walk away where you can buy instant food. The subway station is about a 15-minute walk, with some slight uphill and downhill sections, but it's manageable."

"The room we stayed in was very big, a Western-style room with two mattresses and a massage chair. The hotel's open-air hot spring bath has a great view, facing the sea. The breakfast and dinner were very rich, and the staff also thoughtfully gave each of us a lunch box when we went out in the morning. I felt that the value of the room fee was reflected in the meals. The hotel will have a free shuttle bus at Izu Atagawa Station before 4 pm every day, every hour and 30 minutes, and every half hour, so you can easily get to the hotel if you calculate the time."

"The private hot spring baths on Ao and Hi require advance booking with a fee. The other four baths have one free booking. Basic food is average; the main attraction is the paid private hot spring experience, which is rare even in Izu. Overall, the price-performance ratio is not high. Guests staying at the downstairs Kuroganeiwa bathhouse get in for free, but the experience is also mediocre. There are many other options available at this price point."

"The room is quite spacious, though the decor is a bit dated. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on a hill, but there's a shuttle bus service to and from Shimoda Station. It's not very convenient for buying food, so you'll likely need to dine at the hotel for all three meals. On the plus side, the hotel's food quality is excellent, with great ingredients and presentation! The hotel also offers convenient access to various beaches."

"A good, but not new, hotel. It boasts a huge golf course, and indeed, the vast majority of guests are golfers who come for a weekend getaway to play without venturing down the mountain. If you have your own car, getting there is convenient. However, for exploring the region, the location isn't ideal; this hotel isn't really set up for that. You can, however, reach Ippeki Lake. I actually walked to the Komuroyama lift in 35 minutes through the camellia garden. From there, you can descend to Kawana Dolphin Beach, but the path isn't particularly convenient, and there are no direct buses. The closest bus stops to the hotel are in Yoshida, and from there, it's a 15-20 minute uphill walk along the road. You won't get lost, as there are plenty of signs. But it's not a straightforward or super easy route, especially if you have a lot of luggage. The rooms are quite standard. They have all the essentials: a kettle with green tea, a fridge, a TV, and various shampoos and gels in the bathroom (yes, there's a bathtub in the room). You can even see Mount Fuji from the window. The hotel itself has an interesting interior with cool details, such as an aesthetically pleasing lounge area before the dining room. The breakfast is good. Everything is tasty and varied; it’s definitely a step up from a basic economy hotel. There are fruits, vegetables, drinks, omelets, rice... and various meat and fish dishes, which I don't really pay attention to since I rarely eat them, but they were there. I didn't get to try the hot springs at the hotel, so I can't comment on them. Since I had already done a lot of hiking in the mountains over a few days, I requested a transfer for check-out. I was the only passenger! It took 7 minutes to Kawana Station, and a train to Ito/Atami was leaving 10 minutes later. Overall, it's an excellent hotel if you're not planning to spend a week traveling along the coast from here. For that purpose, it would be better to find something closer to the sea."
