"The hotel's location is a bit remote, but that's typical for hot spring hotels. I communicated with the front desk a few days before arrival. I sent them my high-speed rail information and scheduled a pickup at Changbaishan Station. So, despite the somewhat remote location, the hotel's shuttle service was excellent. The front desk staff were also very good. When I arrived, I had intended for the front desk to book a rafting trip for me, but it turned out the hotel's contract with the rafting company had expired, so we had to sort it out ourselves. (I had inquired with the front desk a week prior, and they said it could be arranged there. I was surprised to find upon arrival that the hotel had just canceled its contract with the rafting company.) I want to be clear, I'm not blaming the hotel; it was just bad luck. I do hope the hotel can continue to assist out-of-towners in the future, as foreigners often face difficulties booking things in China without local phone numbers. I wanted to see Tianchi Lake, but it was closed all three days I was there. Rafting was also out. So, I ended up staying at the hotel. However, I enjoyed several hot spring baths, visited the gym, and the hotel can also arrange skiing for you. We didn't go skiing because we had elderly people with us. So, staying at the hotel wasn't bad at all. There are only two restaurants: a Korean restaurant and the hotel's buffet. The food was good, but the dinner shrimp seemed to be limited. I arrived at 7:30 PM and only got two shrimp, while my dad got five. Then there were none left, and the restaurant staff didn't replenish them. The room was very large and clean. I particularly liked the rooms at this hotel. The hot spring has both indoor and outdoor sections. I might return in the future."

"Our family of five stayed for two days over the May Day holiday, costing around 3600 RMB for two rooms. The hotel is brand new, very clean, and the facilities are decent. The front desk staff were all very enthusiastic and helpful, answering all our questions. Normally, when I'm in Japan, most onsen hotels allow you to use the hot springs from around 5-6 AM until 11 PM. I think if guests could use the hot springs freely, it would greatly enhance their satisfaction, especially on days with bad weather or when they just want to relax during their trip. While traveling, breakfast is precious time spent with family. Unfortunately, on the first day, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in a simple private room. However, on the second day, the restaurant manager refused our request for a private room, citing a shortage of staff. I found this very disappointing, especially since there were no five-person tables in the main hall and the private rooms were empty. The hot springs close at 9:30 PM, but they kindly extended the time for us because we were late returning from dinner. I also forgot my watch in the onsen changing room, and a kind young lady with glasses at the front desk was very responsible and helped me retrieve it. Thank you!"

"This hot spring hotel is only a ten-minute drive from the high-speed rail station, making it perfect if you don't want to travel far into the mountains for a soak. I highly recommend the outdoor hot springs; there are far fewer people than indoors, and it's not cold at all if you briefly step out of the water – just be careful not to get your hair wet. The breakfast selection was quite diverse. Aside from the hot springs and various perks, the hotel itself is pretty average. The room decor is very plain, there are no smart controls, and not even a smart toilet. The most critical issue is the terrible soundproofing; you can hear everything happening outside the door crystal clear."

"The accommodation and dining at Mei Ju were quite good, located in an independent building next to a small park. We chose a deluxe twin room with a balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the park, offering a nice view. The TV was large, but watching movies required a membership. The location was a bit far from the main street, so the front desk staff helped us contact the hotel driver to take us to the main street for 10 yuan, which was about the same price as a taxi and more convenient. However, the hotel's travel butler was a bit arrogant. We had called the front desk in advance to book a ride to the high-speed rail station. The next day, when we came down on time, the butler, with his nose in the air, said there was no such service. I showed him the ”hotel confirmation letter,” and he claimed it was a platform service and had nothing to do with the hotel. After some argument, and fearing we'd be late, we decided to call a taxi. Then he said that even though there was no such service, he could arrange for someone to take us. We didn't want this 'charity,' but we couldn't get a taxi on short notice, so we ended up taking his arranged ride. When booking a hotel, make sure to confirm whether the services listed on the hotel confirmation letter are actually valid, so your travel mood isn't ruined like ours."

"This hotel boasts an excellent location. It offers a special VIP entrance to Changbai Mountain, saving you the shuttle ride from the tourist service center to the mountain gate. The direct bus to the Heavenly Lake summit uses a VIP lane, cutting down on waiting time. Overall, this saves at least 2 hours. The butler service is proactive, reaching out a day in advance for one-on-one communication to ensure on-time pick-up. The hotel breakfast is nutritious and delicious. In the evenings, you can enjoy the incredibly convenient and fantastic hot springs. The butler service is attentive, providing 24-hour assistance. You can even choose your preferred pillow, which is a lovely touch. We went up the mountain a second time and finally saw Heavenly Lake – it was absolutely worth it! For the North Slope of Heavenly Lake, the Crowne Plaza is an excellent choice. We also received a free upgrade to a mountain view room, offering a distant view of the snow-capped Changbai Mountain peaks!"

"The bedding at Atour is, as always, top-notch. What impressed me most about this stay was its incredibly close proximity to the scenic area. The front desk lady was very kind and happily agreed to my late check-out request. The congee was delicious; having a bowl at night helped me sleep so soundly. Despite being next to the road, it was surprisingly quiet, and the soundproofing was excellent. If you're visiting Changbai Mountain, some rooms offer a mountain view, and the sunset is absolutely stunning. Staying at Atour feels like the perfect match when you're in Changbai Mountain. After waiting four days, I finally made it up the mountain, which wasn't easy, but thankfully, the hotel made it all worthwhile."

"Absolutely amazing! It's super close to Changbai Mountain, easily walkable there and back, and I didn't find the taxi situation inconvenient at all, contrary to what I'd read online. They even offered a pick-up service from the high-speed rail station! Plus, they upgraded our room type! The soundproofing is excellent and the room is huge, we felt completely at ease. Loved it, loved it!"

"If there is a dream hotel for a budget traveller then the Lyman Hotel would be it. First off they provide a complimentary pick up service from the Changbaishan railway station. Then there was the smart room with the smart toilet. All the amenities were top notch & in good working condition. Probably because this is a newly constructed hotel? You could see that every feature was carefully planned to maximise space & comfort. And then there was the quality of the bathroom essentials. The shower gel, shampoo, conditioner & even the body lotion all came in a set. Bedding was good quality & guaranteed to give a good night’s sleep. The service was excellent starting from the very helpful driver. And not to forget the complimentary breakfast. It was quite a spread & you’ll be sure to find something you like. There was a lovely park (Beauty Pine Park) just across the street where you can relax & enjoy the fresh air. All in all if you’re coming to Changbaishan you’d be a fool not to stay in Lyman!"

"This guesthouse is incredibly unique and thoughtful. After experiencing the chaotic management and pre-packaged fruit for breakfast at Wanda Westin on our trip from Shanghai to Changbai Mountain, my expectations for this guesthouse weren't very high. However, Guan Zhi ultimately made our Changbai Mountain trip perfect. From the thoughtful communication and guidance before check-in to the seamless and attentive pick-up/drop-off service, every staff member showed immense enthusiasm and a strong sense of ownership. Even the young ladies helped us with our luggage. Upon entering our room, we were greeted with snacks and a variety of beverages. The hot spring dip in the courtyard after dinner, along with the fragrant and sweet roasted sweet potatoes, made our children fall in love with this guesthouse. They even thought Guan Zhi was a more upscale hotel than the Westin. Guan Zhi's breakfast was a true highlight in terms of quality. Whether it was the fruit, homemade shredded chicken, prawns, or their own braised beef, beef noodles, and soup rice, everything captured the taste buds of our family of four. My eldest daughter, who is usually very picky about breakfast, even had two servings of beef noodles the next morning. On New Year's Eve after dinner, we joined the New Year's Eve feast organized by the owner. We and a few other guests enjoyed the owner's 25-year-old baijiu. The sweet baijiu brought together friends from all corners of the country, allowing us to spend a comfortable and relaxed New Year's Eve. The owner and their team are dedicated to building Guan Zhi into a warm and influential brand. With such dedication and full commitment, I believe Guan Zhi and the owner will go a long way. Perhaps it was fate, but on our only full day exploring the North Slope, we were lucky enough to catch the only time Tianchi (Heaven Lake) was open in two weeks, making us among the chosen few to witness its beauty.
